When the temperatures heat up, so can the fishing. June, July & August on the eastern seaboard is King Mackerel time. They are easy to target and fun to catch, plus they are great on the grill or in Capt. Bill’s Smoked Kingfish Dip.
As they make their migration northward, they will be following the food…menhaden; aka pogies. Once you spot the schools of bait a few hundred yards off the beach, the kings won’t be too far away. And if you’re fishing off St. Augustine, FL. you might even hook a cobia or a sailfish while you’re slow trolling live baits.
